Indie's World and its team

Discover the stories of the actors of Indie's World and the unique bond they have with their pets, they are all very different and yet one thing comes up every time, "the love they share". Dogs have the unique ability to offer everyday support. They are always there, present, they don't say anything but they feel our energies and in difficult moments, they manage to transmit: Don't worry, I'm here, at your side. Joining the Indie's World adventure is to commit to animal protection but also to feel the benefits that a furry companion brings. - Malika

Cindy - Founder of the shelter

Before I met Indie I already had a dog named Foxy. For 11 years now, she has been by my side. From Switzerland to Mauritius, living alone with me and then surrounded by 60 other dogs, Foxy adapted very quickly to her changes, accepting one after the other all the dogs in our lives. With Indie, the current is immediately passed, just like me, she loved him from a single glance, since he is very small she cleans him and teaches him the dog codes. Foxy is my example, my friend, my pillar, she understands my emotions and knows me by heart!

With each dog I meet a bond is created, a strong connection. They are my source of energy, the desire and the courage to continue despite the fatigue, despite all my disappointments in front of so much cruelty.

People often tell me that these dogs are lucky to have crossed my path... But believe me, I am the lucky one to be able to share their daily life!

Malika - Founder of the association

Barack was the first dog I treated in Mauritius. He had the parvorirus (gastro) and was in a serious state of distress. We fell in love immediately. There is a unique and incredible bond that is created during a rescue, we are linked for life. I have lost dogs in my journey but one thing is for sure, I was born surrounded by animals and I will leave surrounded by animals because I cannot see my life without them.

Yannick - President

This little angel is called Zou. I met him at the Indie's World shelter in Mauritius. Happy, playful, greedy, Zou was full of energy and curiosity. Unfortunately this little Zou fell ill some time after our meeting at the shelter. He caught a gastro (a disease that is all too common in the dog world and that has fatal outcomes) and despite all of Cindy's efforts, he went to dog heaven... Today, I want more than anything to help Cindy so that no more little Zou leaves too soon.

Kouros is a wonderful and beautiful companion. One wonders how we did without him. He is cheerful, lively and protective. Full of energy, we can say that he is hyper-active. Thanks to him, long walks are part of my daily life and I appreciate these privileged moments that make me feel good. Kouros loves everything, except ...... flies and cyclists :) So, if you have a fly stuck to your calf while you're pedaling... stop and get off the bike :)

Dogs have been part of my life for more than 40 years, they have all had a special place and have allowed my 3 children to grow up in their presence. Eyko is a protective dog of his environment, he lives with a dozen cats and does not leave anyone indifferent. He is the leader with a sharp intelligence. A few years ago, a hedgehog decided to eat every night in his bowl, he let him do so, until he regained his strength, then the hedgehog went away. True story!

Mathy - Swiss Admin. & Community Manager

My life has changed since Meeko came into my life. In the most difficult moments I was not given a hand, but I had a little paw that made me realize that I should not let go of anything. I also learned that there is no such thing as a master-dog relationship, but a collaboration and mutual respect. Meeko is the most refreshing event I have had in my life and he is a great and funny companion.

Gilberte - Mauritius Admin.

Life with Groloulou is only happiness. His intelligence, his need to cuddle, his dignity. Smart and cunning, these qualities make him an extremely endearing being. Life without him would be really different. Every morning, he greets me when I wake up, and with a complicit look he embellishes my day, it's a day that starts well!

Mélanie - Event planning

Kyra is a baby BullTerrier full of life, she is very playful and as stubborn as her human. She transforms my life and gives me the spark that lights up my days. An alchemy is born and grows as we get to know each other. It is said that our quadrupeds are the reflection of their bipeds, today more than ever, I am convinced of it. From the bottom of my heart I thank Kyra for filling my life with love and energy.

Meiggie - Visual Identity

My brother, Yannick, and I had several dogs that accompanied our childhood. They witnessed our bickering, our crying and our laughter. These beings were part of our family and gave us a lot of love. Jazzy is a little ray of sunshine, she is so full of energy! A true life companion, she brings a smile to anyone who crosses her path. She is an integral part of the household!

Manu - Public relation

Celtic is an adorable little musterlander and also a retired hunting dog who lives happily between naps and walks. He is a loyal, funny, intelligent and affectionate companion. He grew up and lives with my mom but also considers him my dog. I have always had a very special connection with animals and as a child I dreamed of being a veterinarian. I can't help but pet every animal that crosses my path and I'm honored to be able to be part of the Indie's world adventure and bring my contribution to defend the animal cause that touches me so much.

Jovana - Digital Marketing

Animals and especially dogs have always been part of my daily life. So it was only natural that when I had the opportunity 7 years ago, I adopted Nala, a black labrador. I had no idea how much she would change my life. Since the day she came home, she has filled me with love, joy and memories that will last forever.

It was my unconditional love for her that led me to Indie's World, and to wanting to help all those little fur balls who, like Nala, deserve the comfort and love of a home.

Mathilde - RP à Maurice & Community Manager

Since my birth, I grew up with dogs around me. I have always wanted to fight for the animal cause because it is a passion I have had since I was a little girl. Being a little girl, I couldn't do it financially and I was afraid to raise my voice against abuse. My first rescue was Coco (Fox) who was my neighbor's dog and had been suffering extreme abuse for years. I took my courage in both hands and fought for him and broke the silence. Financially, I couldn't do it alone, so Indie's World took him under their wings. I will be eternally grateful for this. My second pet was Daisy, who again was at the shelter with the two sisters. I was lucky to be in the shelter and Indie's World is also a family. That's when I decided to be the voice of some of the dogs I met on my way. Unfortunately, fate chose otherwise and I now find myself in France. With Mathy's proposal, I decided to join this wonderful family and give them support.

I have always loved animals but since the adoption of Nicolas my dog, my life has taken a different direction. He brings me so much joy and love that I can say that this adoption saved us both.

Since then, I have been promoting adoptions rather than breeding and giving a second chance to animals that did not have the chance to start their life in good conditions.

Rachel - Fundraiser

I am the proud human adopted spontaneously by Jemima Joy (a brilliant, incorrigible and utterly adorable puppy) at the beginning of the pandemic in Mauritius. Jemima was a traumatized stray, but now enjoys a life full of love and comfort. When I'm not showering Jemima with affection, toys and treats, I'm a special educator and learning designer who travels the world delivering exciting and engaging intensive programs. The experience of living in fourteen countries on four continents gives a global perspective to my life and work.

Virginie - Fundraiser secretary

The complicity, the love and the fidelity summarise my passion for the animals. I like to spend privileged moments and to perceive in their eyes how happy and grateful they are for the attention I give them. They perceive in man what man does not express verbally. We don't have a common language, but animals listen to us, understand us, feel our emotions and console us. Thank you to them for existing in our lives.

Anne - Employee at the shelter

Ever since I was a little girl I was taught that a dog is a guardian of the house. When I arrived at Indie's World, I was not afraid but I did not have any particular affection for dogs. Gradually my view changed, I became attached to them, I am sad to see them leave when they are adopted. My way of treating my dogs has also changed, I am much more attentive to their needs!

Nature and animals have always attracted me and allowed me to recharge my batteries. They transmit so much love without any judgment that I cannot live without them. My cat Tizou has shared my life for more than 11 years, being my particular confidant and my little ball of love and energy. Now, Junior and Udane, are the adorable kittens that brighten my days. I crossed the path of Cindy and her four-legged protégés and I wish to accompany them by my presence and energetic harmonization treatments, in order to relieve their sufferings as well as possible.

Angélique - Massage therapist

Passionate about animals since I was a little girl, I did my training as a veterinary assistant, unfortunately I don't practice this profession anymore but I had the happiness to share my life with my Kyra who changed my life. It is said that each animal comes into our life for a good reason, my Kyra put me back on the path of my passion, animals and especially their well-being! It is thanks to her that I trained in massage therapy, Bach flower and Reiki to be able to help them in a natural way and this always in collaboration with veterinary care.

Yannick - Dog trainer/Behaviorist

My objective remains the well-being of the animal and to give the best personalized advice to the owners. I have a certain facility with "problem" dogs, thanks to my background and my different trainings. Until now I have had 4 dogs, Nestor a ratier, family dog. Floyd a bernese mountain dog, family dog, Brescia a cane corso, working dog, First a beauceron, working dog.

Alvin - Dog trainer/Behaviorist

Since I was a child, I have studied the behavior of the many dogs that have passed through my life. Having lived 8 months in the forest among a pack of dogs I learned their codes and their ways of acting! The important thing for me is the well-being of the dogs in their mind, a dog well in its head is an incredible companion. Many people abandon their dogs because they don't take the trouble to understand them, I bring my support and my experience to these people by proposing rehabilitation courses for both the dog and the human!
